KAMAISHI BENCH PROJECT

A 24" x 36" information graphic showcasing the community art project produced August 2012 for the tsunami-affected city of Kamaishi, Japan. To see details of the infographic open it here.

Led by Seattle University professor and artist Naomi Kasumi, the project was created for Kamaishi, a city was ravaged by the May 2011 tsunami. With many residents living in temporary housing secluded from the city center after the tsunami, depression amongst individuals was common. These benches were made for the common area within temporary housing as a place people can gather. The infographic was presented at Seattle University's faculty show and at an international relief event in Australia.

Design direction and translations by Naomi Kasumi while the design and all details were done by me.
